FAIRHAVEN-Blanche J. (Quirk) Souza, 95, of Fairhaven passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022 surrounded by her family at Alden Court Nursing and Rehab Center in Fairhaven. She was the wife of the late William F. Souza.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Alma (Martel) Quirk, she was a lifelong resident of Fairhaven and communicant of St. Joseph’s Church. Blanche had done work as a housekeeper and also a stitcher. She loved knitting booties, sewing and was a fabulous cook, known for her stuffed quahoags.
She is survived by her son, Mark Souza of Fairhaven; a daughter in law, Kristine Hall of Derry, NH; a son in law, Peter Patterson of Fairhaven; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a great, great grandson; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Souza was the mother of the late William F. “Yogi” Souza and JoAnn Patterson and she was the last of 12 children and was predeceased by Loretta Pauline, Anna Pauline, Doris LeBlanc, Joseph Quirk, Aline Blasingame, Richard Quirk, Lucy Lamontagne, Tillie Rodrigues, George “Bo” Quirk and two infant siblings.
A Mass to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 10am in St. Joseph’s Church, Fairhaven followed by interment in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Mattapoisett.
