Charles “Chuck” H. Davis Jr, 89, of Raynham passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Good Samaritan Medical Center.  He was the devoted husband to the late Priscilla (Wiley) Davis and father to the late Charles “Hank” Davis III.
Born in Malden, he was the son of the late Charles Davis Sr and the late Rosalie (McCormack) Davis.  Charles attended Everett Public schools and then onto Gordon College.  But when his father fell ill, Chuck began working at the Boston Lying-In Hospital (now Brigham and Women’s Hospital).  He started in the laundry department, and went on to work in the Operating Room as an orderly. His plan was to become an OR Tech.  However, when his father passed away, the Chief of Anesthesiology “took him under his wing” (Dr. Duncan Reed and others helped to pay his tuition so he could train as a Certified Nurse Anesthetist).  After completing nursing programs at Mass General and McLean Hospitals, he went on to train in Anesthesia at Boston City Hospital.  During his time at McLean Hospital, he met Priscilla, who was also a nurse. They were eventually married in 1958,  moving from Boston to Brockton.  Not long after, he and Priscilla settled in Raynham to raise their family.  His career in Anesthesia led him to work for Brockton Hospital, Morton Hospital and ultimately land as the Chief of Anesthesia Services at the West Roxbury VA Hospital.  Upon retiring from the VA Hospital after 25 years, Chuck went on to establish the Tristan Advanced Pain Management Clinic in Raynham.  Even early on in his career, his level of care and work ethic set him apart from others, and he was awarded The Weatherhill Award for exhibiting exemplary care of others.  He loved sharing his expertise, and was often sought out for advice. He was a teacher and mentor to many in his field. He even had the opportunity to consult with Sheridan Plastics of Argyle, NY in the design of the plastic disposable endotracheal tube, which is still currently used today.
Chuck had a deep devotion to his family and a love for Jesus that he lived out every day by loving others. His love of serving brought him to the Central Baptist Church in Middleboro. Later he joined the Steeple Point Church in Raynham where he would eventually serve on the Board of Elders. Chuck was also very “handy” and always had a new tool or gadget for any project around the house.  You’d often find him in his workshop, garden, garage, or basement. You might even see him snow blowing his neighbor’s driveway or handing out extra vegetables he had grown. He loved camping with his family and there were many trips along the east coast, from New Brunswick to Florida. Even after the children were grown, he and Priscilla still enjoyed camping. One of their favorite spots was at Bourne Scenic Park, spending the summer overlooking the Cape Cod Canal, with the same group of friends that joined each year.
Charles is survived by his children; Deborah Peterson and her husband Dana of South Easton, Kevin Davis of North Reading. He was the proud grandfather to Amy Peterson, Kory Peterson, Amanda Hobbs and her husband Rob, and Andrew Davis.  Charles also leaves behind several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the Crapo Hathaway Funeral Home 350 Somerset Ave Taunton, MA 02780.  A Funeral Service will be held for Charles on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Steeple Point Church 494 Church St Raynham, MA 02767.  Burial will immediately follow in the Pleasant Street Cemetery in Raynham.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Charles’ memory can be made to Steeple Point Church 494 Church Street Raynham, MA 02767.
