Gloria "Joan” (Turgeon) Dube, 92, of Somerset, MA formerly of Fall River and Swansea, passed away surrounded by her beloved family on Monday, January 16, 2023 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Gloria was born in Fall River the daughter of the late Joseph and Malvina (St. Cyr) Turgeon. She was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School. Mrs. Dube was a successful sales manager at Torch Products Corporation for many years. She served on the Torch Board of Directors and as a local shareholder committee chairperson. Gloria was an Our Lady of Peace Parish Communicant at Saint Louis de France Church in Swansea. Gloria "Joan" was a member of the Niagara and South Main Senior Centers in Fall River. She thoroughly enjoyed the beach in her younger years, breaking bread especially with her grandson and family members, lively gatherings complete with music and friends, long car rides, and trips with her daughter. She was an avid fan of ice skating, a fierce and fair competitor of card and board games, and a sound advisor in all aspects of life. Gloria "Joan" taught us that it is okay to voice our opinions and to never quit, as well as many other wise adages that we will carry with us. Above all Mrs. Dube was a devoted mother, grandmother (memere), and great grandmother. She was a strong woman of faith and courage who deeply valued her family, cherished poodles, and pets. Gloria's spirit will live forever in our hearts. Survivors are a daughter: Sharron Machamer and her husband Bruce of Somerset; a grandson: Justin Machamer and his wife Carole of Warwick, RI; and a special great grandson: Timothy Machamer; along with several close nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Hilda Webster, Lorraine Forcier, and Rudolph Turgeon; and former wife of the late George L. Dube. Gloria's family is truly thankful for the love and support provided by dedicated staff members and friends at her Clifton Rehabilitative Nursing Center home in Somerset, MA.
