William E. King Jr, 89, of Taunton passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023 in Morton Hospital. He was the devoted husband of 51 years to the late Barbara (Boyle) King.
Born in Taunton, he was the son to the late William E. King Sr and the late Genevieve (Simmons) King. William attended Taunton schools and graduated from Taunton High School in 1951. He went on to volunteer to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his service he went to work as a Fire Fighter for over 30 years for the City of Taunton. He then went on to work at Benjamin’s and Manny’s Hardware. William was a member of the St. Thomas Episcopal Church. He was a member of the Lions Club in Taunton. William enjoyed home projects around the house. His family would come home to a newly painted kitchen or they would see banana hangers and paper plate holders around that William had made for his friends and family. Most of all, William loved to spend his time with his family and friends.
William is survived by his children; David King and his wife Melissa of Raynham, Nancy Arcuri and her husband John of Cape Coral Florida and Elizabeth “Betsy” Gazaille and her husband Keith of Swansea. He was the proud Papa to Lauren Barkwill and her husband Brian of Smithtown, NY, John-Paul Arcuri and his wife Joslyn of Onset, MA, Ashley King, Avery Gazaille and Liberty Gazaille. Great grandfather to Ian Barkwill and Isaac Barkwill. Uncle to Lisa Jane Maciejowski. Brother in law to Ronald Maciejowski of Taunton. He was the brother to the late Mary Jane Maciejowski .
Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Monday, January 23, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Crapo Hathaway Funeral Home 350 Somerset Ave Taunton, MA 02780. Family and friends are invited to attend a Service for William on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 10:00 am in St. Thomas Episcopal Church 111 High Street Taunton, MA 02780. Burial will be private.
