On Dec. 20, President John Kowal, Chris Chamars, executive director for Institutional Advancement, and Megan Morrissey-Kelley, associate sirector for Institutional Advancement accepted a $250 donation from the B.P.O.E for CAP scholarships for students in the AuSable Valley Central School District.
Presenting the check was ER Lynn Hathaway and PDDGER and Scholarship Chairperson David Gload. Hathaway indicated that this is the 37th year the Keeseville Elks Lodge has donated to Clinton Community College for assisting AuSable Valley CAP programming. However, this is the 41st year the Elks have donated to the foundation for scholarships with the first several years geared toward general scholarships and student assistance.
“This continued annual donation to the CCC Foundation over the last 41 years has helped numerous students begin their educational journey while still in high school,” Kowal said. “This is a great opportunity for them to learn about Clinton Community College and college courses offered in their school.”
Kowal also noted this commitment to the community and the commitment to the area’s students is of utmost importance and having received this year’s donation during such tough times means a lot to so many. Chamars shared that throughout the 37 years of donations, the foundation has received over $23,000 from the Keeseville B.P.O.E. to be used for CAP scholarships. Morrissey-Kelley indicated that the Keeseville Elks made the first community donation to the CAP program in fall of 2002.
