Douglas A. Veronesi, 79, of Attleboro passed away peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2023 in the Garden Place Healthcare in Attleboro. He was the devoted husband to the late Shirley J. (Perry) Veronesi.
Born in Bridgewater, he was the son to the late Dante Veronesi and the late Cora (Fongeallaz) Veronesi. Douglas attended local schools and attended a trade school. He went on to volunteer in the United States Navy. After his service he went on to work as a Machinist at Princess House. He started B & D Machine Shop and worked there as a Machinist more as hobby until his official retirement. Douglas had a strong sense of faith. He was a faithful member of the Community Covenant Church in Rehoboth for many years until Covid-19 and his illness prevented him from attending. Douglas and Shirley would take their family every year to Maple Park Campground down in Cape Cod for camping and fishing. He was an avid fisherman, you could always find him in Plymouth at Captain John’s down back throwing a line in. He adored children especially his grandchildren. He would look forward to babysitting them and getting to spend the extra time with them as well as helping to watch children from 4-5 neighborhood families. Douglas enjoyed being out in nature, doing home repairs and preparing family meals for everyone to enjoy. He also enjoyed weight lifting and movies, UFC fighting and boxing. He along with his light hearted sense of humor will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Douglas is survived by his children; Douglas Veronesi and his wife Kim of Dighton, Barry Veronesi and his wife Wendy of Attleboro and Glenn Veronesi of Connecticut. He was the proud grandfather to Ryan, Hannah, Riley and Tyler. Douglas is the brother to Gail and Debbie. He was the brother to the late Bruce, the late David, the late Howard, the late Norman, the late Robert, the late Danny and the late Ella.
Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 8:30am to 10:30 am in the Crapo Hathaway Funeral home 350 Somerset Ave Taunton, MA 02780. Burial will immediately follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
